CTO – Lead and Scale our AI‑driven NewsTech Platform
Spatz is a growing AI‑driven MediaTech startup that strengthens local communities by rethinking a digital platform for hyperlocal news. Our work is already attracting international attention, and we are at the beginning of an exciting growth and expansion phase.
Now we’re looking for you: an ambitious CTO personality who doesn’t just build technology, but shapes it – strategically, hands-on, and with real ownership.
Your Role
As CTO, you lead the technological development of Spatz and shape a platform that is scalable, robust, and AI-forward from the start.
You work closely with the CEO and the product team – while actively building the code yourself.

- Scale the platform to the next growth level
- Take responsibility for technical decisions on frameworks, infrastructure, and security
- Ensure code quality, documentation, and sustainable technical standards
- Develop tools with product, design, marketing, and editorial that have real impact
- Evaluate and integrate third-party tools where they create value
What You Bring
You’re perfect for us if you bring:
- Experience in system architecture & scaling young products
- SQL expertise
- TypeScript or strong JavaScript skills (with enthusiasm for deep dive into TS)
- Experience with modern frontend frameworks (we use Solid)
- Strong understanding of HTML & CSS
- AI experience or strong interest in using AI meaningfully
- Lean startup mindset: test, learn, improve
- Interest in MediaTech and sustainable public-interest products
- Willingness to work at least 2 days per week in the Zurich office
